Only a few weeks 3d printing and…
I was looking into 3d printers for quite some time and a few weeks ago I finally received the one I had been researching. I couldn’t be more happy with the experience so far. If you are on the fence about getting one I would just get a good entry level one (they are less than $200 now). I purchased a Creality machine and I would recommend it. Here are a few of the options they offer:
The only drawback I can see right now is the time some of the prints take 10-15hrs. I have made some quicker prints that only took 30-45min it all depends of the size and complexity of your print.
Remixing existing designs are a lot easier then starting from scratch in the beginning so you can get a feel for the software that you are using. I have found a lot of great designs on Thingiverse.com. I have even started posting some of the remixes on there as well. So if you’re interested in checking them out click Here.
The first redesign I did was for a video doorbell we purchased. It wasn’t a Ring but just an import and it works great and was really reasonably priced.
It is similar to this one found on Amazon:
The problem was that the angle was off so I had to add a 45 degree turn to get a better view. So that’s when I remixed a design and came up with this:
The next project to come down the line was a cupholder for the kiddos. We recently purchased loft beds for the kids and now all three kids are sleeping high but that doesn’t stop late night water requirements. So to eliminate spilling water in their high rise penthouses I found a really great design for a cupholder but had to change the way it attaches to the bed. I just wanted one that slipped over the top rail and that’s when I came up with this:
Those are just some of the projects that I have completed so far. I have a few machine upgrades I will be putting into place this next week and I’ll have to be sure to buy some more PLA filament as well.
